What is the american daylily society?

Founded in '46

The American Daylily Society (also known as the American Hemerocallis Society, Inc.) is a non-profit service organization dedicated to educating people about daylilies, promoting the cultivation and enjoyment of daylilies, and fostering the on-going improvement of this perennial flower (genus hemerocallis). Our membership includes over 5,000 avid gardeners and daylily enthusiasts from all over the world.

An Annual Event - the National Convention

In-person meetings have been in the fabric of our society since the early 40’s when the media of the day would greatly influence the popularity of the daylily. Through a Round Robin formed out of the Henry Field Seed Company, strong feelings developed that the time had come to organize a daylily society. With the Robin member influence, the Midwest Hemerocallis Society was formed. The next year they would hold a second convention, and publish their first journal. From that year forward, reflecting our roots, National Conventions have been held at beautiful cities all over the United States.
